HOW IT ALL STARTED

IMG_1281.jpg

My interest in construction began when I was in Junior High. I helped a local contractor, Morris Bandy remodel a house and immediately was fascinated by the construction trade. Therefore, when I entered high school I signed up for a drafting course with Gary Vermilyea and began to learn technical skills such as using a scale ruler and basic drawing. I also signed up for woodworking as a Sophomore and built my first piece of furniture, a Hope Chest that I gave to my cousin. It wasn't perfect but my cousin has kept it all these years. In my junior Year of high school, I signed up for a cabinet making course with Walter J Pippen a retired Marine. All of these classes through high school furthered my interest in wood working and construction. After High School I took a job with Gene Bandy Construction.

I worked for Gene Bandy for 4 years. I married my wife Renae and we rented our first apartment from Gene, and I helped remodel the apartment. Renae and I bought our first house in Blue Mound and remodeled it as well.

In 1980, I started Trimble Construction Inc. I worked tirelessly days, nights, and weekends to build a client base. I hired two full time employees and two or three high school students in the summer and had several farmers who would work for me during their off seasons.

One of my original employees, my brother-in-law, Craig Sperry started working as a freshman in high school and still works for Trimble Construction, 40 years later. My wife Renae and I have two children, Travis and Autumn. Travis has been working here since he was in junior high, Autumn came to work as a freshman in high school and both of my children still work for Trimble Construction today. Travis has three children of his own who have also worked for Trimble Construction through high school. Travis's daughter currently works for Trimble Construction, and his two sons, who are curently surving in the Military, plan to return and make a career with Trimble Construction.
